Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025-01-01

This Privacy Policy describes how Aireka handles information when you use the service. Aireka is an experimental tool for exploring biomedical literature using external databases and AI models.

1. Data you provide

When you use Aireka, you may type search queries and questions in natural language. These inputs are processed to perform searches on external databases and to generate AI-based summaries or answers.

2. Technical logs

The service may temporarily log technical information (such as timestamps, request paths, and error messages) for debugging and performance monitoring. We aim to minimise the amount of personal data in these logs.

3. Use of AI and third-party APIs

Aireka sends your queries and relevant article text to external AI APIs in order to generate summaries and answers. It also calls third-party literature APIs (e.g. Europe PMC, PubMed, Crossref, Unpaywall, OpenAlex). These providers may process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.

4. Cookies and tracking

The current prototype does not intentionally use cookies or third-party trackers for analytics or advertising. Some hosting providers or embedded services may still set their own technical cookies.

5. Data retention

Technical logs and error reports may be kept for a limited period in order to operate and improve the service. We do not intentionally build a long-term profile of individual users based on their queries.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect the service, but no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Do not input highly sensitive personal data, confidential information, or patient-identifiable data into Aireka.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example under GDPR), you may have rights over your personal data, such as access, rectification, or deletion. For any request related to your data, please contact: you@example.com.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
